What are Facial Peels?
Facial peels are designed to treat rough aging and sun damaged skin, acne and acne scarring, enlarged pores, rough texture, fine facial wrinkles, mild discolouration and coarse skin texture.
Peel procedures dissolve the bonds between skin cells to accelerate cell turn-over. This process stimulates the generation of new skin cells and enhances cell communication.
Available only through a network of qualifying clinics, we use the Aspect Dr cosmeceutical peel range for all our Medical Grade Peels.
Aspect Dr works without irritation, trauma or downtime (caused by the inclusion of toxic or harmful ingredients) and is formulated to include ingredients with proven anti-ageing qualities. The Aspect Dr peel range is tailored to address and support all skin conditions and concerns.
How do peels work?
Our medical strength facial peels remove the outer layers of the skin and stimulate growth from the deeper layers, resulting in a fresher, smoother and more refined appearance.
As the skin renews from within, dramatic results can be noticed, with a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation, acne lesions, superficial scarring.
How will my skin look immediately following a peel treatment?
Peel treatments remove all the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, revealing a fresh new layer of skin that looks younger and healthier than the previous layer. Your skin may feel tight following your treatment, with some superficial redness that subsides quickly.
It is recommended that you avoid applying makeup for a couple of days following your peel treatment.
Do I have to stay out of the sun?
It is important to protect your skin from direct sun exposure throughout your treatment plan and it is highly recommended that you use a SPF30+ sunblock. Solariums and sun bathing should be avoided.
Peel treatments can be carried out all year round as long as you are not planning to be exposed to the sun immediately following your treatments.
How often should I have peel treatments?
Ideal results are obtained by undergoing a series of peel treatments. A course of treatment may involve between 5-7 sessions, depending upon the condition to be treated.
What can I do to maintain the result?
Most of the improvements achieved through peel treatments are permanent, however in order to maintain your results, we recommend that you consult your practitioner about the best course of maintenance.
It is highly recommended that you commence a skincare regime including high levels of Vitamin C, A and E, Hyaluronic Acid and other potent anti-oxidants, three weeks prior to your first peel treatment to maximise treatment results.
This should be maintained throughout the entire course of your treatment series and can be continued long term. The use of a zinc based SPF30+ sunblock is also highly recommended for long-term use.
Are there any possible side effects?
Peel treatments are generally very safe with no post-treatment downtime. All side effects associated with your peel treatment will be explained to you prior to your treatment.
